Back in the day, when I was starting out doing stand-up comedy, I worked a day job for a vehicle leasing company. It was a basic, entry level job and certainly not something I wanted to do for a career. They would occasionally try to promote me to positions that weren’t much more money but a lot more work, so I would keep turning them down. Finally, they stuck me in a position that was kind of like Milton in Office Space. Out of the way and no one knew quite what I did. I was happy with that.
