i remember waiting tables at a RED ROBIN restaurant in the 80s. one day a businessman was eating in my station, and next to him on the booth bench was an enormous, crank box, portable phone. it was the size of a laptop case, only wider. i thought it was the most AMAZING THING I’D EVER SEEN!

I remember watching SAVED BY THE BELL and Zach Morris had that giant phone. It was like the future had come to NBC Saturdays

That’s Papa!!! I don’t think he even used the phone. It was in the car “just in case”!!!! We tried to get him to get a smaller one but it was too confusing for him!!!!! We gave up!!!

I know! I’m surprised that thing even fit in his car. He only had a Caddy :)

Just as things get more portable, they make stuff to make me never want to leave my house!

Thanks! He’s a badass…whenever he figures out how to turn that phone on. By the way jefbot, I’m totally stealing a joke from your comment on the initial strip in this story arc. So there :)

Health and Safety requirements state he should have some back support. Shame on you papa….

My Dad makes the same statement as papa in the middle cell everytime I phone him up.
