i remember waiting tables at a RED ROBIN restaurant in the 80s. one day a businessman was eating in my station, and next to him on the booth bench was an enormous, crank box, portable phone. it was the size of a laptop case, only wider. i thought it was the most AMAZING THING I’D EVER SEEN!
